Blackness in Gene

Writer's picture: tyraredwoodtyraredwood

It's never seen through Blackness. The Black race never gives credit to themselves. It's always the Indian, or the Indigenous, or the Latin, or the Hispanic, or the White. Though that blood may be there, it's several generations afar. The most recent is Black. Hair comes from Black but is never credited. I am Black and I have long hair. And NO. It's not because of my great-great-grandmother who is Indian. It's because, you knew how to nourish every strand, you knew how to be gentle and cleanse these coils that rest upon my head. Not the gene of a dead woman who can magically cover whatever Black cannot do. Black can do. I am Black. And I have long hair. It's because of the Black gene for why it runs so long. We Blacks boast of our gene civilly, but never genetically.
